Buildings - The Lost Asylum

The main campus buildings of Fairfield Hills were named after Fairfield County cities and towns. Administration and Employee buildings were labeled Halls, whereas all buildings within which patients resided, were labeled Houses.

A distinguishing feature of patient buildings, as opposed to administration and employee buildings, is that the window frames and sash are made of steel, with flat bars of hinged steel attached to restrict full opening of these windows. Nearly all administration and employee building windows, are constructed of wood frames and sash, and have unrestricted opening. The following 3 photos show the difference between the two primary types of windows.
